In Front Page, there is a very easy 'Preview' option to see the page as it will appear. This would show, for example, the actual video clip one has embedded on the page.

Now I can only see - design, split and code. It is more than likely I just don't know where to find the easy Preview option to see it how it will appear when its live? Can someone please tell me where I find that?

It bdoes not exist - you should always preview in several browsers (IE6, IE8, IE9, IE10, FireFox, Safari, Opera, mobile browers).  All of these have their quirks when rendering the same page, so you
have to design to get the best compromise from all of them.

Note that, unless you are using CSS3 and/or HTML5, IE8,9 and 10 are almost the same.

I cant see why that view would have been removed. It all sounds a bit complicated. I shall muddle along. Thanks.
