Error: Unknown Error encoding file.; & Encoder 4 no longer previews Video channel

I could really use some help.
A few days ago, my Encoder 4 began to not show the video preview of my .wmv files after importing and when I press encode (just to see if it will), I get an error: unknown error encoding file.
No changes were made to encoder 4 at the time, so I'm not sure what started causing this. I am editing gotowebinar .wmv files (which require a codec to view them) that have to transcoded into a regular .wmv before they are editable. Again, I've never had a problem with this until now...used encoder for 2 years without issue.
I thought uninstalling and re-installing Encoder 4 may help. It didn't. But I'm now using the latest version. I also re-installed the gotowebinar codec. gotowebinar has it's own encoder now, but the quality just isn't the same and I really would like to continue using Encoder.
If anyone has an idea of what may be going on, I would really appreciate it. I'm at a loss, and nothing I've researched seems to be the same issue as mine.
I took a screenshot, but can't post it until my account is verified.
Thanks.
Expression Encoder 4 Pro SP2 v4.0.4276.0 ; Windows 7 64-bit
note: I've just updated my graphics card driver to the latest v and I also went into the EE4 options and switched off all other codecs except for G2M....neither of these helped.

I have the very same problem, and am also using files produced by GoToWebinar.
To the above poster: Did you, by any chance, recently upgrade your version of GoToWebinar? That is, did you automatically download a new GoToWebinar program right before a webinar started, and then, after that download, did this problem start? If so, perhaps it is caused by some kind of interference with GoToWebinar's new software, though I cannot imagine how. That is the only thing I can think of at this point.
My problem:
I import a known good file to the Encoder. The analysis completes, and the Status becomes Ready, just like a hundred times before. Data for the file appears. But:
- The Preview image does not appear.
- Pressing the Play button has no effect. The Marker does not move.
- Pressing "Encode" usually hangs the program, and I must use End Task to stop it.
- If, after several attempts to encode, the encoding actually starts, it ends in a minute with "Error: Unknown Error Encoding File."
I have tried:
- Restarting the computer
- Turning off Allow Hardware accelerated decode
- Turning off filters (then the file won't load for lack of a codec)Files that used to load fine no longer load.
Info: Windows 7 SP1, Encoder V4 SP2 (Ver. 3 acts just the same), file is a WMV file produced by recording during GoToWebinar.
If someone can point me to an answer that would be appreciated. Encoder is the ONLY tool we have to make a good recording of Webinar events.
Thanks,
Brett

I'm also experiencing this issue.
Does anyone have a fix yet? Encoder has been fine for me right up to yesterday when I kept getting error described above.
Cheers,
Intelli
