Friday, June 27, 2008 4:17 PMCan someone please recommend the best Computer Based Training that will help my employees reach their MCPD certifcation? I want to buy one that will have a license for up to 6 developers to use. I want it to be for .NET 3.5 too.
Thanks for any help.

Use the MS Learning Website to find what Microsoft recomends you to read for getting certified: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcpd/default.mspx
I'd recommend you to acquire the Trainging Kits (book + cd) for the exams your developers will have to sustein. Depinding on what they wanna specialize, you'll have to choose one of the following:

Friday, June 27, 2008 5:56 PMMy question was for computer based training. I am looking for CD's we can buy/get.

Friday, June 27, 2008 6:01 PMthe book has a companion cd which i think it includes a pdf version of the book. it also has code samples that illustrates the topics discussed in the book.
i don't know of other CDs. you could see some webcasts about the topic you choose to learn, but I retain my opinion that the official training kit is the best chioce

Friday, June 27, 2008 6:20 PMIf there is someone else out there that knows what a CBT is, please help me with this.

Friday, June 27, 2008 6:35 PMModeratorCheck this thread for good books and you could try practice test vendors like Transcenders not their training but the exams because it comes with why the answers are correct or wrong. The reason you need good books is because exam 70-536 covers a lot and is required.

-
Friday, June 27, 2008 8:04 PMModeratorI think they have pretty much covered the most common Computer Based Training you will find on the certification tests. Even if you found something along the lines of "Mr. Professor", that type of training would most likely be inferior. The best way I know of to learn the stuff is just plain simple brain-busting coding experience. No lecture, book or video is on par.
You might check out what is available in your area at a junior college.

Friday, June 27, 2008 8:37 PMWow, that's got to be the stupidest answer I've ever seen. There are several companies that create CBT systems for training in .NET 3.5. I am just looking for anyone with some experience with one of them to give me a recommendation.
-
Friday, June 27, 2008 8:48 PMModeratorPlease don't be rude to other users I have passed three of the seven MCPD 2.0 exams and I am still telling you it will not be easy to find CBT that will cover all seven exams.
Microsoft is not even recommending MCAD upgrade because the fail rate was too high.

Friday, June 27, 2008 9:20 PMCan someone help me understand what all test one would need to take in order to going from zero exams to MCPD cert 3.5? This site is a little confussing. http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcpd/vstudio/2008/default.mspx Thanks.

If you want Enterprise there are five exams but for each concentration you need three exams but one exam is required for all that is the 70-536. So the place to start is the MCTS page and then the MCPD page because some of the MCTS don't have MCPD exams out yet. The platforms that were introduced with .NET 3.0 WPF, WCF and WWF plus ADO.NET which I am still researching because it is new are just only MCTS.

Yes it is confusing, I have changed the grouping so you will understand, the first three exams are new platform two from .NET 3.0 and one from .NET 3.5 the first two are MCTS only with no MCPD track but the ADO.NET MCTS is also required for Enterprise MCPD. I am assuming you remember I told you about exam 70-536 it is from .NET 2.0 because the CLR is still the same with some add ons.
MCTS: .NET Framework 3.5, Windows Presentation Foundation ApplicationsExam 70-536
Exam 70-502
MCTS: .NET Framework 3.5, Windows Workflow Foundation Applications
Exam 70-536Exam 70-504
MCTS: .NET Framework 3.5, ADO.NET ApplicationsExam 70-536
Exam 70-561
The tracks below here the first one is from .NET 3.0 it is replacing Web Service in .NET 1.1, then Distributed in .NET 2.0. The Enterprise certification is now four MCTS and one qualifying exam so Enterprise MCPD is six exams while in .NET 2.0 VS2005 it was five exams. So if you choose to do Asp.net MCPD and Winform MCPD you need seven exams for Enterprise MCPD in .NET 3.5 and six exams for .NET 2.0.MCTS: .NET Framework 3.5, Windows Communication Foundation Applications
Exam 70-536
Exam 70-503
MCTS: .NET Framework 3.5, Windows Forms Applications
Exam 70-536
Exam 70-505
MCTS: .NET Framework 3.5, ASP.NET Applications
Exam 70-536
Exam 70-562
MCPD: Windows Developer 3.5Exam 70-536

Exam 70-563

I don't think that book is a good book for that exam because Microsoft published two very long erratas for that book and I have seen people say it only covers 75 percent of the exam. I have covered the details about how to pass this exam in the thread below.http://forums.msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/CertGeneral/thread/016f96cd-3f7b-4ffe-b332-282b512f11dc
