      Has Code

    Hi,

I have a SL5 project that I can open in blend4 but that is pretty much where it stops.

I cannot switch to design nor split view.

I have tried adding the line:

    <ProjectTypeGuids>{60dc8134-eba5-43b8-bcc9-bb4bc16c2548};{FAE04EC0-301F-11D3-BF4B-00C04F79EFBC}</ProjectTypeGuids>

    to the .csproj

    but to no avail.

    Please help!

    Kind regards.

    Hi FC Malan,

Are you using the Blend Preview for Silverlight 5?  If not, please install the preview and use it to edit your SL5 project.  The Blend Preview for SL5 includes a go-live license and is appropriate for production work.

We also recently released the Blend + SketchFlow Preview for Visual Studio 2012.  It is intended for evaluation and feedback only, and does not include a go-live license.

Blend Preview for Silverlight 5 (production work): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=9503

Blend + SketchFlow Preview for VS 2012 (evaluation only): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30702

    Thanks,

    Lori

To add to what Lori said, Blend 4 does not support SL5, which is why you can't open the design surface. You need to use one of the tools mentioned above or VS.

    Lori,

Can you explain what a lack of a 'go-live license' means?  Does that mean that the product cannot be used on production code, both to edit and to compile?
