Various problems installing VS 2008 Express
- (1) SQL Server 2008 Express will not install.
(2) VWD 2008 Express will not install.
(3) Where are all the '.exes' so that I can create shortcuts?
(4) Why are there no shortcuts on the DT in the first place?
Sorry to do this this, but it is sending me mad and I have a server waiting for me to do some ASP.NET 2. Some preliminary work ....

Hello,
1) SQL Server 2008 Express installation issues are not discussed here. Instead, you can post it http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlsetupandupgrade/threads/.
2) For Visual Web Developer installation issues, more detail information might be more helpful to narrow down and troubleshoot the issue. So, could you please use this collection utility to retrieve the setup and error logs for us? Please upload the vslogs.cab file to some server and provide us the URL. You can easily sign up for 5GB free space at http://skydrive.live.com only with your Windows Live Passport.
3) For example, if Visual C# 2008 Express has been installed correctly, vcsexpress.exe is in folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\.
4) It is by design that the shortcuts of Visual Studio Express Editions won’t appear on Desktop first. If you have some feature request on Visual Studio Express Editions, you can sent your feedback report on Microsoft Connect.
Best Regards,
Lingzhi
