Recommended SQL Maintenance Plan

Question

Although the Operations Guide for Team Foundation Server and Backing up the Team Foundation Server articles outline what needs to be backed up and how to do it, no attention is paid to other maintenance plan tasks.

Are there any specific TFS recommendations for the following maintenance plan tasks:

• Update Statistics,
• Rebuild Index,
• Reorganize Index, and
• Shrink Database

Does TFS do any of these tasks by itself?

Hello Grant,

 

 As a Team Foundation administrator, there are no special duties or instructions you must follow to manage SQL Server services for Team Foundation Server. Make sure that the SQL Server services are available and operating correctly according to the online documentation for each component.

  For the maintenance tasks.

  As I know you don't need to Update Statistics, Rebuild Index, Reorganize Index.

 

  Shrink database

  Sometimes you need it.
