Hi, I'am having a problem getting my powerpivot excel workbooks to show the snapshots in the powerpivot gallery.

I've already done all the steps of this post "http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlkjpowerpointforsharepoint/thread/a90495b1-70e6-40d4-8a23-9e926cc30ed7"

    My Gemini.log is different:

    12/4/2009 3:16:05 PM :  Teste PP 5.xlsx -  is Added in  PoerPivotFiles  located at  http://win-g2nc9iudq1l  by   SHAREPOINT\system  .  .

    12/4/2009 3:16:05 PM :  Teste PP 5.xlsx - Refresh/Update loop succeeded! (vti_Snapshots)  .

    12/4/2009 3:21:05 PM :  Teste PP 5.xlsx - Parsing .info file (C:\Windows\TEMP\28741a2b_3f7e_48b4_b284_53fd8e2e8703.info)  .

    12/4/2009 3:21:05 PM : ERROR: Teste PP 5.xlsx - INFO: loadWorkbook:Object expected  .

    12/4/2009 3:21:05 PM : ERROR: Teste PP 5.xlsx - INFO: loadWorkbook:Object expected  .

    12/4/2009 3:21:05 PM : ERROR: Teste PP 5.xlsx - INFO: System.TimeoutException: The operation has timed out.  .

Isnt supposed to all the powerpivot workbooks that i upload to my sharepoint sites to appear in the Gemini dashboard? In my case all the graphics are blank...

    OS: Win Server 2008 R2
SqlServer 2008 R2 (WCF fix installed)
    Sharepoint 2010 Beta

    Thanks

    Hi Rui,

To start troubleshooting your issue, I have a couple of questions...

Was your workbook created in the same version of Powerpivot for Excel as the PowerPivot for SharePoint (and using SharePoint and Excel 2010 Beta, and not Excel 2010 Technical Preview (which is an earlier version of Office))?

Are you able to open your workbook in the browser and interact with it properly (click in slicers/filters/etc)?

Do all of your workbooks get this error, or just this one?

The Dashboard is updated daily, and not right away... after awhile it should show up there. You can, though, force it to update whenever you want.

If you go to the Central Administration web application > Monitoring > Review Jobs Definitions, look for PowerPivot Management Dashboard Processing Timer Job (or something like that). If you click on it you'll have the option to change its frequency (defaulted to daily) and you also have the option to "Run Now".

If you hit Run Now, after sometime processing the Dashboad should be updated with usage data of the workbooks.

    Hope that helps,
    Mariano

    Thank's for your reply...

Excel Version: 14.0.4536.1000 it's was downloaded last week from: http://www.microsoft.com/office/2010/en/download-office-professional-plus/default.aspx

Sharepoint Version: 14.0.4536.1000, downloaded last week from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=77c30c6c-47fc-416d-88e7-8122534b3f37&displaylang=en

But there was one thing that was very strange, my sharepoint 2010 installation didnt install Excel Calculation Services and to install that I needed to install Microsoft Office Web Applications (14.0.4536.1000_WcServer_none_ship_x64_en-us_exe), I found it weird because in all the guides to configure power pivot none refers this. But i really needed to install this if not my sharepoint installation didnt have excel services....

Is that right? Maibe I've downloaded the wrong Sharepoint 2010 Beta installation can you please indicate one if this is the case?

To continue answering to your questions:

Yes I'am able to open the workbook and interact with the slicers without any problem...

I've already done that without success :(... Do i need the unattended account configured for this?

If you want please add-me to MSN: romano_lever@hotmail.com

Greetings and thank you for your time.

    Hi Rui,

I would like to verify a couple of things, when you installed PowerPivot, did you pick new farm or existing farm installation? Also, did you had a complete successful installation of PowerPivot? because our setup install ECS on the farm. On the central admin site, did you check under manage services if ECS is installed?

In your above response, you mentioned that you didn't able to run PowerPivot Management Dashboard Processing Timer job successfully, what error message do you get? also do you see any progress of this timer job on the running job page at all? You don't need an unattended account in-order to run this timer job.

Also, before running PowerPivot Management Dashboard Processing Timer job, make sure that the usage data is moving into the database properly. Usage data is moved into the PowerPivot database by two other timer jobs, please go to the review job definition page and make sure that the following two timer jobs are enabled and run at their scheduled time:
    1. Microsoft SharePoint usage data import (something like this)
    2. Microsoft SharePoint usage data processing

    Hope it helps,

Hi, thank you all for concerning about this problem.

I reinstalled all from scratch and this time I used a different product key (the last time the product key that I had used didnt include excel calculation services), and everything is working now I think it was a setup problem or a configuration that I did wrong...

The only thing strange (the last time I had this problem too) was that I needed to copy to GAC the Microsoft.AnalysisServices.SharePoint.Integration.dll assembly, if not the power pivot server setup fails in the last step reclaiming that cannot load this assembly.

But the snapshots are being generated.

But the dashboard I uploaded some power pivot workbooks to a web application and they dont show at the dashboard and I run all the services that Ankur mention...

    Thanks
