問題 PowerPivot Gallery view does not show thumbnail to all users.

I looked into the issue described in the below emails. The issue seems to do with the thumbnails generated by GetSnaphot.exe. If we change the view to “All Documents” everything works fine and the folders and its contents are visible.

I tried to replicate the functionality using some other v- alias. When I add her to the Admin group on the server (Computer Management->Local Users and Groups->Groups->Administrators-> Add) she is able to see the thumbnails in the PowerPivot Gallery. But this is not a very good solution. Again, if I try to add her to the “Guests” or “Users” or “Power Users”  groups then thumbnails don’t render. Only if she is given full permissions on the server she is able to see the thumbnails.

Since the thumbnails get generated at “C:\Windows\Temp”, and the GetSnaphot.exe which generates this snapshots is stored at “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\BIN”, I tried to give her v- alias full control to both these folders, still it doesn’t seem to work.

I tried googling on it as well, but couldn’t get any appropriate solution to our problem yet.

    Hi Amit,

Was this v- alias able to see the PowerPivot Gallery while in All Documents view (before being added to the Admin group)?

    Best,

    Mariano
