PowerPivot v2: Access provider not installed

问题 PowerPivot v2: Access provider not installed

    I just upgraded to the new Powerpivot v2.  I am trying to get data from an access 2003 database.  When I specify the database and click "Test Connection" I get the following error:

    ============================
    Error Message:
    ============================

    Cannot connect to the data source because the Access provider is not installed.

    ============================
    Call Stack:
    ============================

       at Microsoft.AnalysisServices.Common.DataSourceBasic.ValidateProviderInformation()
       at Microsoft.AnalysisServices.Common.DataSourceBasic.TestConnection()
       at Microsoft.AnalysisServices.Common.DataSourceBasic.ClickTestConnection(Object progressControl)

    ============================

    I can successfully load and refresh Excel data but I cannot connect to either Access 2003 or Access 2010 databases.  I have Office 2010 32 bit and it is fully patched.  I even installed the Access Data Engine 2010 thinking it would help but no.

    Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?  Do I need to revert to Powerpivot v1?

    Correction.  I can't import Excel either now.  Same message as trying Access:  Provider is not installed.

    Install Microsoft ACE provider at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=C06B8369-60DD-4B64-A44B-84B371EDE16D&displaylang=en

    I did.  Sorry I wasn't specific.  I installed AccessDatabaseEngine.exe or the "Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable" and still the same problem.  For reference in Excel I can import data from an Access database directly to a worksheet using the ACE driver no problem.

    Hi cnuk,

    Since you have already installed the provider, we can suspect that it is not the issue of Provider, have you uninstall the older add-in before install the newer add-in for PowerPivot? Based on Microsoft document, using the newest features requires that you first uninstall the previous version, and then install the current version. The PowerPivot add-in to Excel cannot be upgraded using a Setup program. Furthermore, you cannot use an older and newer version of the add-in on the same computer. You can refer to this http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg488724.aspx for detail information. Besides, you have to upgrade a workbook to allows the use of new features.

    For more information about how to get and use the ACE provider locally and on SharePoint, please see: http://powerpivotgeek.com/2010/08/18/working-with-the-2010-office-ace-provider/

    Thanks,

    Yes I had uninstalled Powerpivot v1 and then installed Powerpivot v2.  I tried an uninstall/reinstall and no luck.   Uninstalled v2 and went back to v1 and it works fine.....v2 not ready for prime time, at least on my machine.
