I wanted to understand the difference in setting up the Always on high availability feature on Physical infrastructure Vs Virtual environment ( VMWare ESX).

I have used Hyper-V machine to setup AlwaysOn. I created 5 machines: 1 DC, 4 Nodes.

It was a smooth process. What is the error you are facing?

There is no diff  wrt to AlwaysOn. however, there are some limitations about the # of CPUs that the SQL can recongize between physical and virtual servers.
