How can I give the rename file permission ?

I created a custom permission where users are not allowed to delete items or documents (MOSS 2007). Soon after that I started getting complaints that users are not permitted to change names of uploaded documents. Can somebody confirm that (delete permission required to change the name of the uploaded document)?

As Far as I can remember this is the default behavior. You cannot rename an item if you cannot delete it, because if you rename the item, it is almost same as deleting the item and uploading the same item with a different name.

If you need to allow this than you will need to provide custom option for you users to perform this activity as a System Account
