can using outcoming email service in sharepoint2010 without install Active Directory

Question

I try to use outcoming smtp email service in sharepoint 2010 without install activie directory, but failed.

because, user has no email attribute without install active directory.

but after I install AD, the smtp service still not work, I had tried many appoach, but failed, the backgroud is I install sharepoint2010, sqlserver2008, active directory in one windows server 2008 machine.

Any suggestion?

Hi Luiswin,

SMTP service on Windows Server 2008, you must use Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manage. Make sure that you install IIS 6.0 Management tools in Server Manager. And make sure that on the service Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)set to automatic.

For this issue, you can reconfigured SMTP service and outgoing e-mail.
