Answered How do I disable or hide sync to sharepoint workspace

My company is not ready for this at this time and I would like to either hide this feature from the Site Actions menu or only display it with admin rights, not with basic reader people rights.

    Thanks

    I figured it out....

    I added visible="false" to the MenuItem_TakeOffline control.

I think it will be better just turn off related feature, enabled by default.

I agree with Alexander and had posted that but I see someone deleted my post. Maybe the person that also marked their own post as an answer. :(

I don't know, I think Leland has a point.  I tried disabling the feature "" and the "Sync To SharePoint Workspace" button was still there on the site actions and in libraries, etc.

I am going to try Leland's technique and see how that goes.

Leland's technique worked, but only for the "Site Actions" menu.  It was still there in the ribbon for individual libraries and lists.  Fortunately it looks like this control can be disabled on a per-list basis via configuration settings for each list.  Seems pretty tedious to me, and for the most part I can see it being easier to just tell people not to click that button.

    Where is "MenuItem_TakeOffline control" located?

    Dora,

This control is located in the ribbon area.  You should be able to find it by searching in either sharepoint designer, visual studio or whatever text editor you use to edit your master page.
