WP7 app for WP8

    Question

  • I have published some apps for winphone7 several months ago.

And these apps run very well on winphone 8 emulator and they should be compatible with winphone 8 device.

My question is what should I do if I want sell such apps for winphone8 device?

    Thanks in advance.

  • The WP7 apps can be installed in WP8 without any problem..But you should test them, just to be sure.

Take a look at your app page in MarketPlace..you should see something like "Compatible wtih Windows Phone 7.5 or upper" in the left corner.

  • If you do not want your app visible for 8.0 devices, you can submit a support request and we will work with you 1:1 in providing some options. As of right now, there's no way for a developer to prevent WP8 distribution.

    Thanks

  • According to the MS support rep I just spoke to, it is no longer possible to remove 8.x support from an app submission. Situations like in the link below are valid cases that aren't helped by this lack of flexibility.

  • Hello Springfisher,

That is correct, all apps are now required to support WP8.
