will not stop indexing outlook 2007

    Question

  • Hi,
I am trying out preview 4.0 for our office. I want to be able to use a remote index file on a file share machine to have all of our employees point queries to. I don't want the software to index outlook or anything else. I have shut off the indexing of outlook 2007 many times and it doesn't work. It always turns itself back on. I read in a previous post about using the outlookexpress://{*}/* syntax in the gpo but i don't know what to substitute to make it stop indexing outlook. Please give whatever help you can.
    Thank you,

  • thank you for the response. i will try that. also, where can i learn about the protocols. i know three now. file, mapi, and outlookexpress. where can i learn what they are and what they mean? are they describing the way that the operating system categorizes data streams? just curious. thank you again.
