Can't find XINPUT1_4.dll in System32 folder

    Question

  • When using the newest version of xinput.lib with my application, I get the following error on running the executable:

"The program can't start because XINPUT1_4.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I dont see xinput1_4.dll in my system32 folder, unlike the older versions. Any idea whats going on? Thanks!

  • Yea, this is installed with the Windows 8 SDK but it isn't in any of the DirectX redists yet.

While things are in the development stages, you'll probably find that you will need to install the SDK onto machines that you want this program to run on, but this is part of the fun of pre-release software.
