Error on Remove Access > Connect

    問題

  • One web role, Azure SDK 1.3, RDP module enabled.  Web role works great (MVC site), but I when I log in on the portal and click on Remove Access > Connect, I get:

    ---------------------------
    Remote Desktop Connection
    ---------------------------

An error occurred while loading from file C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\4B28B9L2\qa-MYWEBROLE-Production-MYPROJECT.Web.MYSITE_IN_0[1].rdp

    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------

I tried it on multiple computers - same error everywhere.

  • Hi,

What happens if you use other browsers such as FireFox? Could you post a screenshot of this error? And what happens if you run C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\4B28B9L2\qa-MYWEBROLE-Production-MYPROJECT.Web.MYSITE_IN_0[1].rdp directly?

  • Hi Allen -

I tried with IE8, IE9 (on a different machine), Firefox, and Chrome - same result every time.  I also tried double clicking on the RDP file directly - also same result.

    Here's a screenshot of the error -

I can email you privately the contents of the file if you'd like to take a look.

    Thanks for following up!

  • Hi,

Could you try to delete it and download it again via the management portal and then open it? Does it work? If it still doesn't work I suggest you contact our support via Report Live Site Issues of:

  • I tried saving it again through the management portal and opening it - but got the same error.  I will contact support - I have a hunch there might be an issue with either certain characters in my web role or site names or the size of the total instance name...

  • Hi,

I have the same issue. I've tried to delete and save the file .rdp file again. Doesn't work. I've tried to just open the file without saving it. Doesn't work: Any suggestions?

  • Hi,

Please try to shorten the role name to less than 28 chars to see whether it works. We're now doing further investigation.

  • Hi,

I can confirm that shorten the name to less thatn 28 charaters solves the problem. Do you know if there'll be a fix to support more that 28 characters in the future?

    BR,

    Max.

  • Yep - I can confirm as well that a shorter name fixes the issue.

  • Hi,

It seems it hasn't been fixed yet. It still doesn't supports role names greater than 28 characters. Could you please when this would be fixed because if this is not fixed we might have to delete our production role and recreate that which means service down (it beats the purpose of cloud of 100% up time.

    Thanks,

  • Seems like this bug is fixed, I tried to RDP with a role instance name of more than 28 characters and it worked fine.
