SQL Data Sync - Live Release?

    Pergunta

  • When will SQL Data Sync exit preview and become supported live?  As with many features of Azure it is difficult to plan around services that stay in preview for ages with no indication of a preview exit date.  Thanks Simon.

  • Hi All,

We are glad to see that there are so many passionate users trying out SQL Data Sync.  We greatly value the feedback from our users as it helps us to improve the product.   Anyway, we are working hard towards General Availability, and we will continue to keep our blog updated with release information as we release service updates for the preview.  Please continue to monitor our blog at http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sync/.

Please keep the feedback coming and use the Windows Azure SQL Database Forum to ask questions or get assistance with issues.  Be sure to vote on features you’d like to see added or updated using the Feature Voting Forum.

    Thanks again for your support!

  • Notably the last mention of this on the forum was that CTP3 would be the last preview before live prior to the end of 2011.  We are now on CTP6 August 2012 and no one seems to know when it will become supported under the SLA.  Thanks.

  • Hi Simon,

According to this thread from 2011:

    #########

The planned release date is before the end of this calendar year.  You can read more about this here:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sync/archive/2011/03/08/sql-azure-data-sync-update.aspx
    #########

There´s been a some updates latelly and there is a lot of good feedback about this service as well, I guess a lot of people are using it in production/live scenarios. So, hopefully, the service will go Live until the end of this year (maybe).

    Regards,
    Carlos Sardo

  • The last time this blog was updated with anything was 2 years ago.

It January 2014 and you're still in preview!!!

It is such a shame that a potentially great and useful facility has been left to languish in this pathetic state. I would love to know what the idea or strategy lies behind this decision, if any!
