OLEDB connection from Data Explorer add-in

    Question

  • Hello,

I am testing out the new Data Explorer add-in.  Previously, in the Data Tab, I could use the Connection Wizard to create an OLEDB connection to an OLEDB provider.   I am trying to make the same type of connection in the Data Explorer tab.   Is this possible or am I overlooking something obvious.

    Thanks,

    Scott

  • Hi Scott,

Data Explorer connections are automatically created when you create a new Query through the Data Explorer user interface and add the data to the worksheet. Once the query is created, you can view the connections in the connections list in the Data tab besides other connections in your workbook. If you are looking to create Data Explorer connections "manually" by going to the Data tab, that is not supported, you need to use the add-in to create such connections.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have further questions.
