I'm considering developing a database driven cloud application that I'd like to try to sell to some small companies aftewards. What interests me are the fees that are associated with this: are there any fees for using the .net environment to develop the
app, or using the cloud to upload it, or when I make some profit of it do I have to give a percentage to Microsoft? I've been programming mainly in Java, and i'm fairly new to the .net, that's why I'm not familiar with those things.
Assume you already own a copy of a modern Windows (such as Windows 7), the development part is essentially free. You can get Visual Studio Expression for free (although paid versions have more features), and Windows Azure SDK is also free. However, if you
want to deploy the solution to Windows Azure, it will cost you. You can, however, use free trials for a limited amount of time. Please refer to
