  • Hi,

I guess your need install Visual Studio for create SQL Server Data-tier Application, try it as following steps:

File-New-Projects-DataBase (In the left tree)-SQL Server, then your will find "SQL Server Data-tier Application" on the list.

Have a try, hope it helps.

  • Hi

I had tried the above steps but still the "Data-tiet application" tab does not come in my SQL management studio. Does it comes in SQL Azure or in local sql management studio.

    Please suggest.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Usha.

  • Hi,

I mean you need to use VS to create "SQL Server Data-tier application", not use SQL Management sudio.

    Hope it helps.

  • Hi

Thanks for your reply. I tried the steps in VS but the "SQL Server Data-tiet application" tab does not show up in my SQL Manegment studio.

My assumption is that if we install SQL Server Management studio R2, the data-tier application" tab should show up. So what is the problem and how to fix this problem. Please suggest.

    Regards,

    Usha.

  • Hi

    I checked the below link "Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 R2 Data-Tier Application Framework v1.1 Feature Pack"

    http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=24000

I had installed 1033\amd64\DACFramework.msi still the data tire-applications tab does not show up in SQL Server management studio.

In my view the SQL Server management studio R2 shows a last tab "data-tier applications" below manage but it is not appearing. It shows SQL management studio as below.

    Please suggest.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Usha.

  • Hi Usha,

    Refer to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210455.aspx.

From this article. You can create date-tier application (DAC) by two ways, one is by VS (as i was metioned above), the another way is use powsershell command or Extract Data-tier application wizard in SQL Server Management Studio, it seems you need create a database choose Tasts-Extract Data-tier application:

    Hope it can help you.
