  • Well, thank you for pointing that out.  It seems like the team already has feedback on the issue and is working on it.  What else do you need me to do on this?  Any fixes for this aren't going to be released until the next version, and that is first week of June...  so it would be best if you waited until then for a working sample.

  • Hi Matt,

    We are developing Printer driver related MetroApp.

    I am Using the following code,

     public void Initialize(PrintTaskSettingsActivatedEventArgs args)
            {
                configuration = args.Configuration;           //line1
               configuration.SaveRequested += OnSaveRequested;
                Application.Current.Suspending += OnLightDismiss;
                printerExtensionContext = configuration.PrinterExtensionContext;
     //....Some other code
     }

    While debugging when we enter in to the above function exception throws at line 1.

    the exception message is "The RPC server is unavailable".

    Regards,

    Vijay

  • 1) Does this happen on every machine?  If so, please send your application to me:  MSMALL at Microsoft.

    2) Did this work previously?

  • ->Please Build the Printer exception sample in debug mode.

    ->Put break point in Mainpage.xaml.cs at line 258 (configuration = args.Configuration;)

    ->Start debugging(F5).

    ->Go to Reader metro app open the printer devices and select the printer connected to your App.

    ->click on More Settings.

    Result:

     It is showing exception at break point.

    Vijay.

  • Vijay - I am not having any problems with this.  Have you tried this using multiple printers?

  • Hello,

    We have same issue.

    Sometimes, app crashes when user changes visibility(ApplicationVisibilityChanged: true|false) or moves to "snap".

    Message: The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)
