Where is a ClickOnce app installed?

    Question

  • Hi,

When someone installs my ClickOnce app, I noticed that it gets installed in the user's App folder which does not show in Windows Explorer.  How can I make Explorer show this folder?

Another question:  If the user uninstalls the app via Control Panel, does Windows remove all the installed files?  Thanks.

  • Hi stratoblue,

The ClickOnce applications are stored in the ClickOnce application cache on the clients computer. The location of the ClickOnce application is under the Local Settings folder under the Documents and Settings folder of the current user.
To to be explictly. If you are using XP operation System, the location is %userprofile%\Local Settings\Apps. If you are using Vista Operating System, the location is %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Apps.

For your second question, the application files will be removed after your uninstall the application.

A good suggestion for you, before you post your question here, first check out FAQ and see if the problem has been already in the list. Maybe you will get what you want very soon. But if you post your question here, probably you need to wait the community members to response for a much longer time.

Please check out ClickOnce cache overview in MSDN and your question in the ClickOnce FAQ.

    Best regards,
