VB 2005 SignTool Publish Error

    Question

  • I am working on a program that I have been able to build and publish before but now when I try and publish I get an error saying the project failed to build and:

"SignTool reported an error "Keyset does not exist."

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

  • I had the same problem as you, and also on the a projet to which publishing worked perfectly a couple of times.

Don't know the root cause of the problem, might be a certificate issue, but all I did was to click on the signing tab of the properties window of my project, and then click on the button : create test certificate, I entered a password, and then publish succeeded. I am now just curious to see if the password has to be entered when launching the setup.exe from another computer.

Over a month and a half for an answer... 2bad

  • Try to refer the pfx file in each project that you have, if that doesn't work too, right click PFX in explorer and install it and try to publish again.

  • Thanks. Install PFX worked for me.
