  • This looks to me like a bug in your program.

    What does the program do? Does it load entries from the event log into a control on a Windows Form? If so, are you checking the number of entries loaded so it doesn't try to load more than the control can handle?

    I'm also confused about how you are deploying and/or installing this. Are you using a setup & deployment package, or just hte <Publish> capability in Visual Studio (which is ClickOnce)? How are you then installing it?

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
    application or computer (machine.config) must have the
    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
        <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
    rather than be handled by this dialog box.

  • Hi Roma,

    I am moving this thread from Base ".NET Framework Setup" forum to the "ClickOnce and Setup & Deployment Projects" forum, since the issue is related to deployment. There are more deployment experts in the "ClickOnce and Setup & Deployment Projects" forum.

    Thanks

  • Hi roma_victa,

    From the call stack, the exception is thrown in the Load event handler of the Form. Just as RobinDotNet said, you need to check the index before you use it to get an item. Could you please post the code of the Load event handler? This can help us to reproduce the issue and figure out the root cause.

    Regards,
    Aland Li

  • Your problem is as I stated earlier. You are trying to load the entire event log, and it's too many entries for whatever you are trying to load. Try changing that loop to only load the first 10 entries from the event log and see if you can get it to work.

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
    application or computer (machine.config) must have the
    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
        <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
    rather than be handled by this dialog box.

  • Is there any way to disable just-in-time (JIT) debugging
    Tuesday, April 13, 2010 12:51 PM
  • Two questions.

    How many records does it retrieve from the event log?

    The original stack dump was from loading the textbox -- that code is now commented out. So what is it doing now?

  • Hi roma_victa,

    The exception is thrown in the Load event handler of the Form, it seems like that there is something wrong in your program.

    I think you need to provide more details about your program.

    Regards
    Jeff Shan
