Deployment project - how do I get a link to my executable within the start>Program Files menu?

    Question

  • In a deployment project, I can't figure out how to put a short cut to my program executable inside the User Programs Menu.  All I can get is a link to the folder. Anyideas?

  • Assuming you've created something like <Company Name> and <ProductName> folders in the Start Menu in the File System view, you go to your program (probably in the Application folder) right click to create the shortcut and then copy that to your program start menu folder.  This does work, but I think it's fragile - if you move your executable around and don't re-create the shortcut it probably doesn't work.
When you say "a link to a folder", keep in mind that these shortcuts are advertised and don't look like manually-created shortcuts.
