How to Rewind MediaElement

    General discussion

  • How does one rewind the video in a MediaElement? I am trying to build a player to play videos.

    False tries:
    - There is a method to play, pause, but none to rewind.
    - SpeedRatio can be used to mimic fast forwarding, but doesn't allow negative values to rewind.
    - A timeline, a clock, and a controller can be added to the MediaElement to control it better. However, none of these classes offer rewinding.

  • You could set the MediaElement.ScrubbingEnabled property to true, and pause the MediaElement, and then periodically change its MediaElement.Position property backwards to mimic the rewinding behaviour.

    Hope this helps

  • We ended up having a timer change the Position back. It is choppy compared to playing the movie forward at different speeds (slow and fast).
