.NET Framework Initialization Error

    General discussion

  • I have created an dot net windows application using Visual studio 2005, the exe works fine on my dev machine , even when i copied on the Acceptance box, it worked fine for that day but next day when i opened the exe it ends with followign error..

    "Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application." in a dialog box.

    then suddenly i noticed that all my .exe on that machine started giving me same error.

    I am not able to understand why this is happening. i have re-installed dot net framework 2.0 .

    Thanks

  • Hi NaushadAlam,

    So you meant that the problem only happens when you run this windows application while other application run without problem?

    Does it always happen or sometimes happen?

    Does it happen always in a specific machine or in all machines?

    Thanks

  • Do you have configuration file for your windows aplication? something like

    .exe.config -

    If Yes

    Check what is the value for requiredRumtime or startup tage. For .NET 2.0 it should be something like below.

    Code Snippet

     <startup>
      <requiredRuntime safemode="true" imageVersion="v2.0.50727"/>
     </startup>

    Cheers

  • It looks like issues with finding or loading the mscorwks.dll, some 3-party anti-virus software may cause this problem.

    Please check it out.

    Thanks
