How long do I set timeout when I use Session as storage

    Question

  • I use Session as storage, normally I set timeout=60, but I have seen someone set a big value such as timeout=360, I don't why? Could you tell me? thanks!

    <add key="ChartImageHandler" value="storage=session;timeout=60;"/>

    BTW, I can't understand the following document completely, does it mean the image maybe overwritten after the period has elapsed ? is it only availabe when storage=file?

    Timeout: The timeout period in seconds for rendered chart images. After this period has elapsed for an image, it may be replaced by a newer image. The default value is 30.

  • This "timeout" is the minimum image live in seconds. If the image is not downloaded for this time, it will be replaced by other chart image. Normally is 20 seconds. If you expect slow connections or unresponsive server, 60 seconds is OK.  360 seconds is a lot - nobody will wait the chart image to come this long.
