Samples include a nonexistent member and I need a work around

    Question

  • Interactive Samples - Chart Features - Interactive Charting - Selection - Drill Down

    The sample code (VB.NET) contains the following line:

          Chart1.ChartAreas(0).ReCalc()

    This line throws the following error:

    'ReCalc' is not a member of 'System.Windows.Forms.DataVisualization.Charting.ChartArea'

    Why do the samples contain members that don't exist?  Also, if this member method existed what would it do?

  • We gave this method more descriptive name: RecalculateAxesScale. It allows you to recalculate axis scale after customizations. Check documentation for more details.

    I will log a bug to fix the samples code. Thanks for letting us know about this issue.

  • Alex,
    Thanks for the reply.  I made the change and now it is all working good.  Well, I found one other thing that my VS 2008 complained about:

    Dim point As DataPoint = Chart1.Series(0).Points(result.PointIndex)

    had to be changed to:

    point = (Chart1.Series(0).Points(result.PointIndex))

    This also solves one of my other posts as well.  Thanks!
