>NETFramework and .NETFramework SDK

    Question

  • I installed .netFramework 3.5 redistributable. Please tell me what this "Redistributable" means. Is there a another version.
    What is a Bootstrap?

There is a tools kit as .netFramework SDK, is this not installed with .netFramework and what is it?Is visual C# a component of .netFramework SDK.

Is there a SDK for every version of .netFramework, I could'nt find  the SDK for .netFramework 3.5 But there is a SDK as the version 1.1.When I tried to install that I was prompted to install .netFramework1.1.Is .net Framework 3.5 the latest of the .netFramework.If 3.5 the latest of .netFramework then is'nt the SDK 1.1 allowed to install on framework3.5 or is a SDK of the same version as .netFramework is needed, to be installed.

How can I find the latest of .netFramewok and the FrameworkSDKs

  • Hi,

    Lot of questions!! Smile

Redistributable - Redistributable means that if you have created a software, you can distribute the redistributable s/w with the Developed Software. For eg: If you create a .NET application called 'Payroll', you can redistribute the Payroll s/w with the redistributable .NET 3.5 framework.

Bootstrapper - The Bootstrapper is a small executable, weighs less than the redistributable and adds only a small amount of overhead to the installation process. You can plug into the Bootstrapper just about any installer packaged as a Microsoft Installer (MSI) or executable program.

.NET framework 3.5 SDK - .NET 3.5 is the latest version. Here's a blog post of the program manager of win sdk. He says "There will be no separate, standalone web release of this version of the Windows SDK.You can download the free Visual Studio Express editions, which have some Windows SDK components.  If you want a full standalone Windows SDK for use with Visual Studio 2008, you can download the Microsoft® Windows® Software Development Kit Update for Windows Vista™ that was released in March, 2007. This SDK has the same set of (Vista RTM) SDK headers and libraries that are included in Visual Studio 2008.  However, the SDK tools that ship with VS2008 are more recent than those that ship in the Vista Update SDK." The .NET Framework 3.5 specific content can be found in the default SDK install folder of any Visual Studio 2008 edition under C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\

The latest version of .NET framework can be downloaded from here.
