DWG viewer

    Question

  • Hi

¿ Anyone knows if theres a free .net control to view DWG/DXF Autocad files ? . (winform or wpf)
Just to view the file (as you view a image). nothing else.

i know theres some net controls like
CadLib 3.5 DWG DXF .NET Library http://www.woutware.com/cadlib3.5.html
but i dont wanna pay $380 for features i dont need.
Autocad DWG Trueview with a lot features, but need 200mb <_< and my programs need like 1 mega <_< hehe

i just wanna view/preview a file (inside a c# form)  before i launch Autocad. like when you load a bmp or jpg file
    hope someone can help me.

  • im lost =( i need some help with http://www.infograph.com/products/dwgviewer/
i got the Free AutoCAD Viewer - View DWG, DWF & DXF - Windows Desktop / ActiveX - Powered by Brava!
    (last product on the page)

after reading the (really bad) documentation, i found this
"Brava! Desktop runs as a Windows desktop application or as an ActiveX component inside a web page. It also has a complete API (license required) so it can easily be embedded in another application. Please reference the API interface document (Interface_DetailsBravaDesktop.pdf ) included in your Brava! Desktop installation directory,"

so i ended in this page
    http://www.infograph.com/developer-sdk.htm

wich offers a sdk to work with a java API or a ActiveX. So i downloaded the activex version (since i wanna use it in c#)

"ActiveX – Brava Enterprise (ActiveX version), Brava Desktop, Brava Reader and the Free DWG Viewer are ActiveX controls that can be easily integrated into your solution or website. "

seems like this activex is made to work against a server (apache, IIS) and the architecture (described on the .doc included on the sdk) gets really ugly <_<.

i just wanna view a dwg inside a c# form winform or wpf and im totally lost.

  • I apologize as I misunderstood. Free viewers are available to view DWG files, but I do not know any that can be embedded into a .NET as a component for free, all of those have nominal fees associated with that as far as I know.

  • I don't know if theres a free .net control to view DWG/DXF Autocad files, but you can use ZWCAD, it is identical to AutOCAD, and you can view dwg file for free. Find this
