Locking gives error.

    Question

  • i am trying to lock a folder, the first thing i found is it doesnot have an option recursively for the folders, u need to select them one by one for locking them..

the intention of locking the folder is that no other users will be able to check out and check in the files. so as a admin i lock the files, when i do a check in pending change, i get, a msgbox:

no changes to check in, all the changes were either unmodified files or locks. the changes have been undone by the server.

can any 1 tell how to lock/unlock the files/folders

    thanks

    venkat.

  • When you apply a lock to a folder it will be applied recursively by default.

I think the reason that particular error appears for you is because your file is checked out, you have a lockon it but you have made no changes to the file and then you tried to check it in.

Locks are applied such that the user who places the lock can checkin/checkout files but noone else can until the lock is released.  So as a more valid test you will need another user to attempt a check-in of a locked file - ie not you because you put the lock on.

MSDN seems to cover it ok, heres a link.
