LOB WPF sample applications?

    Question

  • It would be good to see some LOB (Line Of Business) sample applications done in WPF, that can easily be used in different scenerios. For example being able to choose a template from a number of complex data entry samples would be great, and would really promote the technology in real business scenerios.

Has this been done, if it has, I have not found any? If it has not, well its a potential money maker for some design/developer company!

  • Hi,

I am not aware of any serious LOB sample applications done in WPF. The only sample that I know of, offered by MS, as a LOB app, is the Outlook 2007 UI Clone WPF HOL (Hands-On-Lab):

But IMHO, this is not an example of a serious LOB.

Acropolis (http://windowsclient.net/acropolis/), a framework that would make building WPF apps easy, has provided a few good samples of WPF LOB apps made with Acropolis. Unfortunately, it's been a long time that the Acropolis team has released something (since August 2007). And in my opinion it isn't mature enough yet.

What's also interesting to take a look at, is CSLA .NET (http://www.lhotka.net/cslanet/), an application development framework, with some interesting WPF stuff.

But building a WPF LOB app requires a lot of work and study, it's possible, it's cool, but the learning curve is immense, and there's practically no information.

    Best regards,

    Benny
