    Thank you for your post.

    If you want to know the performance of xap file download, you can do a web performance test. You can record the download request of the xap file in a web test and then run the test. Then you will see the Request time in Web Test Result Viewer.

    But note that the web test engine executes http requests and does not execute client side script. So if the download of the file is a client side action it will not be executed. But if you are requesting a file from your web server, you should see the file in the http response for the request that tried to pull it down.

    In addition, Web tests work at the protocol layer, the SL client pieces are not tested. However SL apps could use WCF/JSON/REST protocols to communicate with the server. Editing and playback for these payloads have good support with the plug-in, seeVS2010 Web Test Plugins for Web Service Messages.
