Installing Powershell 2.0 on Windows Server 2003 - installer says Management Framework Core is already installed

    Question

  • Hope this is the best place to ask this, I couldn't find a powershell-specific forum.

I'm trying to install Powershell 2.0 on Windows Server 2003 (SP2, 32 bit).  It looks like this machine may have had Powershell 1.0 at some point as there is the help docs in the Program Files for PowerShell 1.0 but no application, and Add/Remove programs doesn't show it either.

It looks like this is the only way to install PowerShell 2.0:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968930

I tried to run the installer, but it fails with "Windows Management Framework Core Setup Error --  Setup cannot proceed. Windows Management Framework Core is already installed on your system"

I'm not sure exactly what this is referring to, there is nothing in the Add/Remove programs that even remotely sounds like that, unless it's part of .NET Framework 4 or 3.5.

In anyway, it won't let me run the installer, so I'm trying to figure out how I can install Powershell 2.0 on this machine.  Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.
