I installed Visual C++ 2005 express edition (+ the SDK) on a computer which already
had the Visual Studio 2003 installed. Now if my program crashes the JIT debugger which
is available is the 2003 version. It appears to have problems with the version8.0 dlls (?)
so I would like to invoke the express edition debugger here.
Is this possible, or is it something only available with VS 2005 pro?
I noticed that C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7Debug
contains some relatively new files (coloader80.dll etc) which makes me some what
hopeful that I would be able to somehow solve these problems.
Edit: While writing the text above I continued searching and found:
which says that JIT is not available on express edition, can anybody confirm this?
Would it be possible to use something like windbg as the jit debugger?
I would be happy to just get some basic stack and variable information
when the program crashes?
I have a related problem. I have VS2003 on my computer and used to have VS2005 beta as well. When an application crashed, I was given the choice of the JIT debuggers from VS2003 and VS2005. Now that I have uninstalled VS2005 beta and installed VC++ 2005 Express, I don't even get the choice of using the VS2003 JIT debugger, but the application just terminates. Can anyone tell me what the registry entries should be to enable the VS2003 JIT debugger?
