    Question

  • What I really need is some example on how to work with virtual IP addresses or however they call it. I know since our IP addresses are not static, they are changed every specific time. So how can I prevent that problem when I want to make a server-client applications?

  • I have an idea for some application and I need to connect those 2 applications with TCP/IP protocol. Client application should send information only when server application allows it (via GUI). Those applications will not work on the same computer/router, so my problem would be IP address on both sides. I want to create a virtual network between those 2 applications so they can send and recieve informations between each other.

  • You normally access a remote system by name.  After all, do you access this forum by an ip address or do you use a name?

  • You can use GetHostEntry to get an IP address from a host name.

    IPHostEntry HostIPEntry = Dns.GetHostEntry(HostName);
    IPAddress  HostIP = HostIPEntry.AddressList[0];
