Possible to install TFS Build Service on a non-domain computer?

    Question

  • Hello,

I have a machine on a different network than the Team Foundation Server 2010 that I would like to use as the build controller and a build agent. Is that possible?

The computer can communicate with the TFS Server via https but when I run the installation Readiness Checks I get and error stating "[Verify that the running account has the required Team Foundation Server permissions] User account xxx\yyy not found". The account in the error message is the computer account that I'm running on.

    Thank you in advance!

  • Hi Peter,

This is not supported. TFSBuild will use the service account to connect to TFS. If you want to use a machine in another domain, you can try to add 2-way trust for the 2 domains, so that you can add the account  xxx\yyy to TFS Build Service Account group.

    Best regards,
