Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

    Question

  •

    Hi

    We have scaled out TFS 2010 installation on Virtual Machines running Win 2008 R2, and over the last couple of weeks, we've ocassionally been seeing the following error when running builds.

    Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host;

    This is only happening with files over 2MB, and only in our remote locations (locally the connection is fast enough for this not to happen)

    I believe the error is a known issue with IIS7.5 - which has been addressed with the following hotfix...

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981898

    Has anyone else installed/applied this hotfix in a TFS 2010 environment, if so - what were your results.

    Thanks
    Marcus

  • Hi Marcus,

    Hotfix is just for a specific scenario, so the result will be different for different environment.

    My suggestion is that you can try to install the hotfix and check the result. If this hotfix does not help, we would find another solution.

    Best regards,
