Visual Studio 2012 Install Error

    Question

  • On some machines VS 2012 Install completes fine but on a few I'm getting this error:

    Error Code -2147185721

The Visual Studio documentation says the error means "installation canceled". I'm not sure why some installations are doing this exactly. I have tried to install .NET 4.5 and it still does the same thing. Any ideas?

  • Hi philjfry,

    Thanks for your post.

Your error code can be translated to "0x80048bc7".

    When referring to this page:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee225238.aspx

    You can see the following:

    Block

    0x80044000 [-2147205120]

    0x8004C000 [-2147172352]

If the only block to be reported is “Reboot Pending,” the returned value is the Incomplete-Reboot Required value (0x80048bc7).

Have you tried to reboot after installing? How did you install it?

If you have done this, the error should due to other error code.

In that case, please use http://aka.ms/vscollect  to gather logs for us.

After using it, you can find vslogs.cab from %temp% folder. Please upload the file to https://skydrive.live.com/ . Then when you right click the file your will get a "Share option".

    Thanks,
