insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service

    Question

  • Hi,

when application trying to copy file, error is getting logged "insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service"

Issue description: “Insufficient resources to complete the requested service”

                  System specifications:

                  Windows XP professional- SP2

                  Drive format- NTFS

Application:          The volume of data that needs to be copied is more than 200GB and 1million files(which are in NTFS file format)

Exactly or almost when i try to copy 700000 files the issue is occuring. All the application running in the system has the same issue?

We are using just file.copy(source file, destination file)

I think this is an issue with microsoft. Is there any solution for this?

Is there an way we can release IO resources?

    Thanks, Goutham J

  • Hi,

According to the error message your provided and the scenario you described, I think the following article will help you to the problem solution.

If you receive these error messages only when you back up large system volumes, the two most probable causes are those that this article describes.
