Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Setup Installation failed with error code: (0x800C0005)

Answers

  • Hi Mushumbi Pools,

    Thank you for your posting.

The error code 0x800C0005 always comes together with Download failure.  This behavior may occur if certain dynamic-link library files (.dll files) are not registered correctly or if there is a firewall between the computer and the Internet that does not allow HTTPS (SSL) connections. (From Microsoft Support: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/843499)

So you could try using a standalone installer to install .NET Framework 4.0. You can get the Standalone Installer from below link:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=0a391abd-25c1-4fc0-919f-b21f31ab88b7

From the log you provided, there is a line: MsiGetProductInfo with product code {394244F5-63DB-3B52-A1AB-3FF407A07E9B} found no matches. I’ve searched in the .NET Framework 4.0 installation package, it shows that this product code is represented of netfx_Extended_ia64.msi (from the ParameterInfo.xml file).  You might also take a notice of it while installing.

Here are some common install tips of .NET Framework installation:

    ·         Turn off your anti-virus/antispyware software during installation

    ·         Install the latest Windows updates from the Windows Update site: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. (Like pvdg42 said, remember install Windows XP SP3)

    ·         Complete or dismiss Windows Update before installation. (and don't forget to turn it on later)

    ·         If the installation fails, you can collect the setup log file and analyze them.

You can follow below steps to collect log files:

    1.       Try to clean your "%temp%" folder (Start Menu >> Run >> Type "%temp%).

    2.       Install .NET Framework again.

    3.       Collect the logs from "%temp%" folder with the Collect tool.

    Collect tool: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e0da314f-6216-4a18-bc6b-7d29cf83af20&displaylang=en

    4.       Send the vslogs.cab file to me (E-mail: v-anwu@microsoft.com).

Note: Please attach the link of this post in the mail.

Hope this will help to solve your problem.

  • Your log above indicates that you have only SP2 installed in your Win XP.

.NET Framework 4.0 requiresSP3 for XP. Read here in system requirements:

  • o you get the same errors every time you run the program.  I think the log messages you posted are two different types

    1) the dowload message from installing Net 4.0

    2) Connection messages from WinHTTP class.  there may be some IP Network issues with you computer installation that isn't allowing certain IP datagrams from completing.

Are you running a setup.exe installation when you are getting these errors?  Did the program complete the installation.  Check to see if the prgram complete the installation.  Check for a short cut on your desktop or in the Start - Program files.  Also check in the c:\program file folder for the program.

From what I'm seeing in the messges yo posted it appear the installation completed and then the program automatically started to execute.

The first real error I'm seeing is this line

    Error from JobError Callback : hr= 0x80072ee7 Context=5. Percentage downloaded = 0

A callback fuction is usually associated with an IP Protocol.  The 0x8 indicates usually that some sort of file permission or access permission failed.  It appears that your program tried to make a connection to a server (URL web page) and failed.  Is ther any setup in the program that your need to specify the Server naem (or IP) and a set of credientials to logon?  WinHTTP is using the same protocol as your webbrowser.  Can you manually with your webbrowser enter the Server URL?  What URL are you using?
