Why "'PRIMARY' filegroup is full" Error COMES

    Question

  • A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user-defined routine or aggregate "SaveXmlData":
    System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException:

Could not allocate space for object 'dbo.SORT temporary run storage:  437261777502208' in database 'Durgfr6' because the 'PRIMARY' filegroup is full. Create disk space by deleting unneeded files, dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup.

This is Coming in some systems, but in Other system's its working fine.

for Information, In all the system there are much space in Disk(40 gb)
but, why this message comes? If I am deleting some data then its work. So,what is the Problem?

How I can Fix this Problem ?

  • This can refer to the files being full, not necessarily the entire disk.

Have you checked that the files in the PRIMARY filegroup have an appropriate MAXSIZE?  That the FILEGROWTH is set (if necessary)?

You can do these in Management Studio through the database properties window.
