wndbg error - The call to LoadLibrary(sos) failed, Win32 error 0n193

    Question

  • Hi ,

I am learning to use the Wndbg , for this developed a sample C# application

.Net Version : 3.5,Visual Studio : 2008,Operating System : Windows xp 64Bit and set the configuration as AnyCPU; Wndbg :64bit

As per my understanding Any CPU means 64Bit.

I wanted to debug the application, so I set the symbol and source paths and then executed the exe, command window generated and typed .load sos. I am getting the following error.

The call to LoadLibrary(sos) failed, Win32 error 0n193
        "%1 is not a valid Win32 application."
Please check your debugger configuration and/or network access.

What is the reason for this Error?

    Regards

    Raghav

  • This is a WCF forum. The WinDbg forum is: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windbg/threads. As for this particular problem, make sure you're using the correct version (64 bit) of sos. Use a complete path. For example, the 64 bit version of .NET 4's sos is:

    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\sos.dll

If you don't use the complete path, WinDbg may load the 32 bit version.
