High Availability on Server 2012??

    Question

  • Server 2012 is Standard or Data Center, I keep seeing references to the option to create HA caches on 2012 but when I configure AppFabric 1.1 for a HA cache, I find an error in event log stating that I must be running Enterprise.

    Is there something I'm missing?

I want to create a HA cache in Server 2012 Standard.

  • We have run into the same issue. MS states that there are no feature differences between standard and datacenter. Has anyone found a workaround for this?

  • Good one.

Given the fact that SharePoint 2013 supports Windows Server 2012 it should come sooner or later. Hopefully sooner :)

Please do file a CSS ticket for this issue. That would be the best way to track progress into the issue and ensure timely updates.

  • Hi everyone,

Apologies for the delay on working through this issue. We are still working out what can be supported for HA on the Windows Server 2012 SKUs and will update this thread once we have a recommendation.

Appreciate your patience in this regard

  • Going on 4 months now with no resolution. This has all of our 2012 Web server migrations on hold. Is there any ETA on this issue?

  • What's the answer? Our company would like to use the High Availability aspect of AppFabric, too, but the lack of official information is disconcerting.

  •            Hi everyone,

We just issued an update to AppFabric 1.1 to allow configuration of a Highly Available cache when running on Windows Server 2012 Std edition. You can get the update from here: support.microsoft.com/.../2800726. After applying this fix, you should be able to create a named cache with High Availability turned on, running on WS2012 Std.

    Thanks,

    Prashant
