Unable to create New Team Project

    Question

  • HI

I am not able to create new team project in TFS2010.I am able to create Team project Collection.

Due to some problem we reinstalled or reconfigured Reporting services.

Reporting Services Url is working fine.I am able to view all team projects and collections before re-configuring reporting services, but not able to create new team project.

It is showing the below error

    TF30177:Team Project creation Failed

    Error
The Project Creation Wizard encountered an error while creating reports to the SQL Server Reporting Services on http://msbu-tfs/ReportServer/ReportService2005.asmx.
    Explanation
The Project Creation Wizard encountered a problem while creating reports on the SQL Server Reporting Services on http://msbu-tfs/ReportServer/ReportService2005.asmx. The reason for the failure cannot be determined at this time. Because the operation failed, the wizard was not able to finish creating the SQL Server Reporting Services site.

    User Action
Contact the administrator for the SQL Server Reporting Services on http://msbu-tfs/ReportServer/ReportService2005.asmx to confirm that the SQL Server Reporting Services server is running and you have sufficient privileges to create a project. Your user account on SQL Server Reporting Services must have Content Manager permission to create a new project. Also, you might find additional helpful information in the project creation log. The log shows each action taken by the wizard at the time of the failure and may include additional details about the error.

Please help me in this.Very Urgent.

    Thanks in Advance.

  • Is the user administrator on Reporting Services? You can add the user to the System Administrator role in site settings (in the right hand above corner) and you can make the user Team Foundation Content Administrator by choosing Folder Settings from the menu bar

It is necessary to have these permissions in order to create a Team Project.

    Hope this helps

  • Hi GSouji,

    Thanks for your post.

After reinstalled and reconfigured Reporting Service, launch your TFS Admin Console>>Application Tier, in the Application Tier panel, check which Manger URL and Server URL be configured under Reporting Services Summary. Ensure that are the reinstalled Reporting Services.

Then as Renevo said, open the reinstalled Reporting Service Manager URL(http://serveranme/reports by default) using your account, ensure your account can create the folder under team project collection folder manually. If can’t create folder, check your account permission in the site.

I verified in the application tier->Reporting Services summary. It is showing the following error.

    Manager URL: http://msbu-tfs/Reports

Reader Account: TF255316: The name of the service account used for the data sources in SQL Server Reporting Services cannot be loaded from the following server: http://msbu-tfs/ReportServer/ReportService2005.asmx.

Manager URL is working fine and Webservice URL in Reporting services:

  • Hi GSouji,

    Thanks for your reply.

Which Reader Account be used under the Reporting Services Summary?

This account needs "Team foundation content manager" permission on the Reporting Services. This role is enabled by TFS when you configure TFS to work with Reports. If your account is not found there, Add your account to the "content managers" group.

1        Browse to  http://msbu-tfs/reports and verify if the home page is clean without any errors. You have to browse to this page with "run as administrator" permission while launching IE.

2        Once the page shows up, select "properties" and check if your account is part of the list and see the role assigned to the account.

As you reconfigured Reporting Services, this issue requires more troubleshooting. If it is urgent issue, I suggest you to contact a Professional Support Service at http://support.microsoft.com/ to gain more support on this case.

  • Hi GSouji,

    Thanks for your reply.

Which account be used as the Reader Account under Reporting Services Summary? Your TFS Service account? If not, please try to use your TFS Server as the Reader Account, then test again.
