    Question

  • Hey, I am trying to install Visual studio 2012 but can't, every time installation is complete something is left uninstalled, like for instance one time it is ASp .Net web developer tools, once it was Microsoft Operating system doesnt get installed (error while intalling them) although i have original software, i have also tried the trial version downloaded from this site, but as soon as it starts it gives me "unexpected error" window pop up and close the program. I also tried to install VS 2010, same issue.

I am using Windows 7 home basic, SP1, 64-bit... kindly help me because I am unable to complete my MS work.

    Regards

  • Hi Wajahat.Kamal,

You should make sure you’ve followed these tips: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/vssetup/thread/60f71a54-506e-4c70-be98-e993ce6d1ddf

    1) Disable your Anti-Virus software

    2) Update your computer (Windows)

Then you should make sure you have healthy installation package:

    1) Suppose you are using the ISO file to install visual studio. Please use this tool http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290 to verify hash of the ISO. The point of the exercise is to generate a hash value (or values) - MD5 and SHA1 - from the ISO file so that it/they can be checked against the known value(s) for that file. Any discrepancy would indicate that the file was corrupted.

    2) If you are using a web installer, please make sure your network is healthy.

If the error persists when you are sure your package is healthy:

Please use http://aka.ms/vscollect to gather the installation logs. After using it, you will find vslogs.cab from %temp% folder. Please upload the file to https://skydrive.live.com/ and share the link here.

    Best Regards.

  • Hi Wajahat,

I'm not sure if this is the issue you have encountered, but if you are seeing a warning after setup completed, that states

"Microsoft Web Deploy 3.0 - A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying against the current system clock or the timestamp in the signed file."

Or if you encounter the error "Unable to locate package source", when running the Visual Studio web install.

You have most likely encountered a known problem with the Web Deploy package installed with Visual Studio.

The affected downloads have been updated on MSDN, and will only occur when using bits that were downloaded before the end of August 2013, or if you are installing from the original DVD media.

There are a couple of options to fix this:

    Sincerely,

    Ed Dore
