Hello,
I am experiencing a strange behavior of OS with starting the apps from Desktop. Clicking on one of the tiles actually starts another. For example, Windows starts Windows Marketplace when I click on Socialite.
Windows app contract has been corrupted in registry? Could somebody please help here?Thank you.

Did you installed anything before this problem happen?
Try update your Windows and Restart it.
Go to control panel and under advance click refresh .

No changes have been made to the system since the last normal functioning. Possibly a simple restart helps, but this is rather to ask you for help with diagnosing the root cause if possible.
Thank you.

Hi Exotic Hadron,
try Restore, just to see if it helps. I have noticed that a harsh Refresh is recommended where even a milder, benign Restore can help. Would you rather keep WDP after the release of CP? I haven't decided yet.

Hello Exotic Hadron,
All apps opening To Windows Store has been seen to be caused by corrupt user accounts.
You can try and create a new local or Windows Live ID account and the Metro
apps should now open correctly to the Metro app.
Or you can try a refresh of the PC and the Metro apps should open correctly.
Thanks,
Marilyn

Hi Irfan,
Thanks for helping, but I am going to say that I am lightly confused with all these Reset and Restore feature. What does restore do? Completely reverses to first boot?
When MSFT recently deployed a KB to prolong expiration date for WDP, I decided not to upgrade for some time, but now that I am thinking of moving to CP.
Thank you.

Hi Exotic Hadron,
don't know a lot about computers, my 6/7th year since I learnt to boot a PC, still on my first PC ever. A WDP Refresh is like a Reset Settings feature that we have in our mobile phones, it takes you to the factory default settings without deleting any of your data, it uninstalls all apps and you need to install all your updates again. You can compare a WDP Reset as a mobile phone's Reset All feature which deletes all data, as well as Resets the Settings to the factory defaults. A System Restore is something I wish we had in our lives when something really bad happens, you want to undo it all and go back to a past date when you hadn't messed things up. Apps and updates installed after the Restore date have to be re-done again. So you see, if the restore point is a recent one, it isn't as painful as a Refresh.
A refresh affects the registry settings too. I was running Acrobat X on a 30 day trial whose period was about to expire, after the refresh I got another 30 days:)
