kerberos authentication error when connecting to file shares

Brief Story,
I am windows xp and 7 connecting to file shares on another domain which is using kerberos for authentication. I checked the service principal names on the file server and it is configure as "cifs/servername.domain-name.com". To troubleshoot this issue, I used wireshark. The software reveals an issue with finding the principal services of the remote server when it says not_defined_in_rfc4178@please_ignore. I can ping the server by host name, ip address and I can also nslookup the file server both by ip and hostname.
Any help, please?
Thanks
